HOW WAS TANK BEING OPERATED WITH DEAD GERMANS INSIDE?

The Germans were NOT all dead. And since tanks do NOT have auto pilot, its obvious somebody was at the controls. Putting 2 + 2 together, it seems the likely answer is the driver passed out or "away", causing the tank to come to a stop.
