I have been meaning to ask this question for years and just found this great Combat site!! Thanks for being here.

I recall having seen this episode a couple of times over the last few years and both times noticed that one of the actors looked and sounded like Jon Lovitz (the comedian). Maybe his Dad? He played a seargent and his speaking part took place in a medical or supply tent.

Can someone please confirm this likeliness or, at least, just brand me shell shocked.

I just looked up this episode in Jo Davidsmeyer's book, "Combat", subtitled "A Viewer's Companion to the Classic TV Series". According the entry on "Hill 256" there were four sergeants in that episode besides Sgt. Saunders. Robert Culp played Sgt. Metcalf, Kirby's accuser. Clegg Hoyt played the Technical Sergeant. Richard Peel played the British Sergeant. and Bill Gaskin played Sgt. Kaufman. Hope this helps. So long from your friendly 349th
