Vought F4U Corsair Merchandise
gifts and collectibles
Corsair items of interest to fans and collectors of the WWII TV series Black Sheep
Squadron. These links are to sites selling the merchandise direct to the public. I
particularly like the paper models -- they make great gifts for middle school children
(and, okay, I had fun putting them together, too!)
To many, the Vought F4J Corsair was the best carrier-borne fighter of WWII. The Corsair
airplane remained in production longer than any other US fighter of the period and is
credited with a kill:loss ratio of 11:1 against the Japanese.

Trumpeter 1/32 Vought F4U-4 Corsair - 2222
"The Chance-Vought F4U Corsair was one of the most successful fighters of WWII. It was in production longer than any other US fighter in World War II (1942-1952) with 12,571 built, some of which remained in service as late as 1965.The F4U-4 is a version 2.01 addition to War birds. The F4U-4 first saw combat at the battle for Okinawa in 1945. The F4u-4 also participated in combat in Korea. It was the fastest, best dogfighter of the series. The Corsair was definitely the longest-lived of the Navy fighters of WWII, its last combat sortie being in 1971 with El Salvador, and the F4U-4 was considered the ultimate Corsair. Kit features metal and photo etched parts, and rubber tires. Model length 12.6 inches, wingspan 15.3 inches. Plastic cement and paint are required for assembly, and are sold separately."
