If you want to learn more about what it was really like saving lives with the Medical Corps in World War II, give this newly released personal account by Allen Towne a try. Doctor Danger Forward is Mr. Towne's personal story as a medic with the First Infantry Division in North Africa, Sicily, Omaha Beach, as well as France, Belgium, and Germany. His account mixes official "morning reports" with the author's personal notes. It carries you along with the progress of the war as a young, former college student finds himself in the thick of the fighting. It is published by McFarland & Co., Inc., also the publisher of my book on World War II Medical Personnel, hopefully to be released in early 2001.
