I have seen Oliver Stone's "Platoon" several times and while I despise Oliver Stone himself, I feel that "Platoon" is not only the one good infantry-war movie to come out of Viet Nam, but is among the all time great war movies. Although I was not in Viet Nam, I was in the Army a long time, and served with every one of the characters in that movie at one time or another. If you want to see how poorly led, badly motivated, indifferently trained soldiers act in a confused, uncertain guerrilla warfare environment, watch platoon. Great flick!
