Combat Fan Page Discussion Forum: Episodes: I Swear by Apollo: Hope Dies in the House of God
By Nancy LionStorm (349hvywpnscrew) on Unrecorded Date:

Throughout this episode I knew a miracle would occur and 'Temple' (John Considine) would be saved. This was after all, 1960's television and the good did not die senseless deaths. Surely the doctor would arrive on time and find a way to save Temple. Of course the Sarge would pull a rabbit out of his hat! But Saunders has no magician's top hat and the doctor dies enroute. I don't know which was more difficult to watch: the quiet suffering in dying Temple's eyes, or that which was evident in the eyes of Doc, Caje and the rest as they witnessed Temple's life slowly slip away.

A German mine mortally wounds a squad member and seriously wounds a Frenchman traveling with the squad, yet when Saunders calls Hanley and asks him to bring a doctor he doesn't mention the mine or tell Hanley to be careful when approaching the area!!
