Combat Fan Page Discussion Forum: General Discussion: Hanley's Home life?
By Rose Ann Schrock (Carbine) on Unrecorded Date:

Lt. Hanley has always been my favorite Combat character since Day 1. I always wondered why the writers for Combat never gave us any information on Hanley's home life(or does he even have a family?) Even the tough, secretive Saunders gives us some of his pre-war background on cetain episodes.
All we know about Hanley is that he is a college
graduate who spent some time in pre-war France with a buddy. Was this intentional on the writers
part to make the Lt. seem as tough and mysterious as he looks?

Hello from Lyne. I am also a Hanley fan. Check out episode "Billy the Kid". Young Lieutenant Benton, upon answering "How's your father?" with "He's fine", retorts to Hanley "How's YOUR father?" Hanley smiles and answers "He's fine". It's a beautifully played scene, showing that Hanley has a father living which he certainly loves and has (probably) a good relationship with.

Hi Lyne,
I'd forgotten all about that. Thanks for reminding me!
