WWII Weapons Used in Combat!

These pages discuss WWII weapons used in the ABC-TV series Combat! that originally ran in the United States from 1962 through 1967. This information is meant as a primer for fans wanting to identify the weapons used in the series.

Bazooka

A bazooka resembles a big tube, but is held like a gun. The shells resemble rockets. Bazookas are used against tanks and are sometimes used by a squad in the field. (See episode "Point of View" and "Hills are for Heroes".) The German Panzerfaust operates along similar lines.

The 3.5-inch bazooka is used against armor. A smaller version may have been used earlier in World War II, but would not have been as effective against armor.

Said to be named after a certain "unusual" musical instrument used during the 1940s.
