RICHARD BENEDICT
Director for TV Series Combat!

Richard Benedict's three-episode directing deal with the show was cut short by Vic Morrow. According to Dick Peabody, though Benedict was an inexperienced director, he was also a prima dona. (See Dick's article about Benedict directing Combat.) When Benedict tried to take on the cast, exerting his authority over this close-knit group in their fifth season together, he learned the power of a star protecting his own people.

That same season Benedict also directed a "Man From U.N.C.L.E." Benedict's acting credits are more extensive than his directing credits. He appeared in the original "Ocean's Eleven," "The Beginning of the End," "The Big Carnival," and "The Juggler," among others. His directing career never took off. He died in 1984.
